Al Khor and Al Sadd secure wins in Round 15 of QBF League

Doha: Al Gharafa Hall hosted thrilling games yesterday evening during the 15th round of the 2024-2025 season of the QBF League. Both Al Sadd and Al Khor teams achieved significant victories that bolstered their standings in the competition for higher positions.

In the opening game, Al Khor delivered a remarkable upset by defeating Qatar SC with a score of 74-55, securing a well-earned victory that elevated their total points to 18.

Al Khor commenced the game with vigor, concluding the first quarter with a lead of 22-12. They maintained their momentum in the second quarter, finishing with a 5-point advantage of 17-12, further solidifying their dominance. As the third quarter began, Al Khor continued to showcase their strength, decisively winning that period 21-11. Although Qatar SC managed to take the fourth quarter 20-14, it was insufficient to alter the overall outcome or mount a comeback.

Djan Janjic emerged as the standout player for Qatar SC, scoring 28 points, while Youssef Yaqoub led Al Khor with 19 points, playing a crucial role in this significant victory.

With this win, Al Khor’s total points reached 18, placing them on equal footing with Al Wakrah and Al Gharafa clubs, while Qatar SC remained in sixth place with 19 points.

In the second game, the Al Sadd team maintained their vigorous challenge against Al Rayyan Club for the leading position in the QBF Basketball League, following an exhilarating victory over Al Shamal with a score of 112-108.

The game commenced with both teams evenly matched in the first quarter, resulting in a tie of 19-19, which contributed to a sense of equilibrium throughout the contest. In the second quarter, Al Sadd regained its momentum, outscoring Al Shamal 29-21, thereby securing a comfortable lead at halftime.

During the third quarter, Al Shamal demonstrated resilience and managed to claim victory in that period with a score of 37-33, thereby narrowing the deficit and heightening the game’s intensity.

In the final quarter, both teams engaged in a series of vigorous exchanges, concluding that period in a tie of 31-31, which allowed Al Sadd to emerge victorious by a margin of four points. Tyril de Voan Stuglin of Al Shamal was the standout player, scoring 30 points, while Skyler Tyrone Flaten excelled for Al Sadd with 28 points.

With this win, Al Sadd increased their total to 25 points, remaining tied with Al Arabi Club in second place, just three points behind the leading Al Rayyan. Conversely, Al Shamal held onto fourth place with 24 points, trailing Al Ahli Club by a single point, which occupies the fifth position.
