Real Madrid closing in on Trent Alexander-Arnold signing

Real Madrid are nearing a deal to sign Liverpool full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer this summer, according to multiple sources close to the negotiations.

The Spanish giants have made Alexander-Arnold a top priority target, and discussions are ongoing to finalize the transfer before the start of next season. While nothing has been signed yet, progress is being made to complete the deal.

Alexander-Arnold, 26, is in the final three months of his contract at Liverpool and is free to discuss a move abroad.

Real Madrid have been tracking the England international for nearly two years, and a deal would see him follow in the footsteps of Steve McManaman, who made a similar move in 1999.

The Liverpool vice-captain has spent his entire career at Anfield, making over 300 appearances and winning every major trophy, including the Premier League, Champions League, and Club World Cup.

However, his relationship with Liverpool fans has become strained in recent months, with some supporters questioning his commitment to the club.

Alexander-Arnold’s comments about prioritizing individual honors, such as the Ballon d’Or, over team success have also sparked frustration among fans.

Former Liverpool player Steve McManaman believes Alexander-Arnold would thrive at Real Madrid, saying, “If he does choose to go to Real Madrid… all credit to him. It’s a fantastic opportunity for him, and no doubt he will be a superstar there as well.”

McManaman also acknowledged that Alexander-Arnold’s departure would leave a “considerable hole” at Liverpool, but expressed confidence in Conor Bradley’s ability to fill the void.

The potential loss of Alexander-Arnold, along with fellow out-of-contract players Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, raises questions about Liverpool’s future and their ability to retain top talent.
