Tottenham open talks with Brentford’s Thomas Frank after Postecoglou sacking

Tottenham Hotspur have begun negotiations with Brentford over head coach Thomas Frank, following the dismissal of Ange Postecoglou.

Frank, 51, has emerged as a leading candidate to replace Postecoglou, who was sacked just 16 days after guiding Spurs to victory in the Europa League final — the club’s first major trophy in 17 years.

Despite the European success, Spurs endured their worst-ever Premier League campaign, finishing 17th and losing 22 of their 38 matches.

Brentford would be due compensation if Frank departs, with sources suggesting it could cost Tottenham over £10 million to release him from a contract that runs until 2027.

That figure could increase depending on how many staff members Frank brings with him.

Frank has been in charge of Brentford since 2018, leading them to Premier League promotion via the Championship play-off final in 2021.

Under his guidance, the club has cemented its top-flight status despite operating on a modest budget. Brentford finished 10th in the 2024–25 season — 18 points and seven places above Spurs.

Structural Changes at Tottenham Continue

Tottenham are also expected to confirm the departure of chief football officer Scott Munn this week.

The Australian, who played a key role in appointing compatriot Postecoglou in 2023, is leaving amid a wider internal shake-up.

Vinai Venkatesham recently began his tenure as Spurs’ new chief executive, while executive director Donna Cullen has exited the club.

Former managing director of football Fabio Paratici is also in discussions about a potential return once his FIFA ban — relating to alleged financial irregularities during his time at Juventus — expires in July.

Paratici has continued working with the club in a consultancy role and is reportedly keen to return permanently, despite interest from clubs in the Middle East.

As Tottenham seek new men’s and women’s head coaches, this summer is shaping up to be a pivotal period for the North London club.
