Al Shamal’s Mohammed Omar contributed a goal and an assist in the team’s 2-0 victory over Al Ahli during their inaugural match of the 2025-2026 season Doha Bank Stars League, held at the Khalifa International Stadium on Thursday.
Omar netted a goal in the 88th minute, while Mohamed Manai had opened the scoring earlier in the 40th minute with an impressive side flick. This marked a splendid first win of the new season for Al Shamal, who had concluded the previous season in sixth place, whereas Al Ahli had secured fourth place.
Al Ahli had their moments but were not forceful enough. An in-dipping free-kick from Julian Draxler was cut off by Al Shamal goalkeeper Babacar Seck in the 68th minute, who had a good evening under the bar.
Mohammed Omar was also named Man of the Match.
