Forest stun Liverpool with 3-0 Anfield victory to deepen Champions’ title woes

Nottingham Forest earned a stunning 3-0 win away at Liverpool on Saturday, dealing another serious setback to the champions’ fading hopes of defending their Premier League crown.

The defeat marked Liverpool’s sixth loss in seven league games, leaving them 11th in the table and eight points behind leaders Arsenal.

Brazilian defender Murillo opened the scoring for Forest in the 33rd minute after a corner, before Nicolo Savona struck early in the second half to double the visitors’ advantage.

Morgan Gibbs-White added a third 12 minutes from time, tucking home after Alisson initially denied Omari Hutchinson.

It was Forest’s second straight victory at Anfield and their biggest win at the ground, while also handing Liverpool their heaviest home defeat since a 4-1 loss to Manchester City in 2021.

Captain Virgil van Dijk admitted the performance was unacceptable, saying it was “very bad” to lose at home to Nottingham Forest.

He added that the goals conceded were “far too easy” and urged the squad to take responsibility. Despite the frustration, van Dijk vowed that Liverpool would respond, insisting, “We will bounce back…but it doesn’t happen overnight.”
