Doha Bank Stars League Week 19 – Match Day 2 round up

A concise round-up from the Doha Bank Stars League as Al Ahli’s big win and other results reshaped the standings.

Al Gharafa 1-4 Al Ahli

Al Ahli  defeated Al Gharafa 4-1 in Week 19 of 2025-2026 season Doha Bank Stars League at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium on Wednesday.

The Cheetahs, who remained on 34 points, fell behind in their pursuit of league leaders Al Sadd following their loss to The Brigadiers, who moved up to 19 points and 10th position in the standings.

Yacine Brahimi (29th minute, penalty) scored the lone goal for Al Gharafa, while Younes Hussein (46th, 90th +6 minutes), William Troost-Ekong (59th minute), and Michel Vlap (87th minute, penalty) secured the vital goals for Al Ahli.

Brahimi got the opener for Al Gharafa after a pull on Aron Gunnarsson by Talal Al Shila in the penalty area, before an unmarked Hussein restored parity for Al Ahli within seconds of resumption of the second half.

The visitors took the lead 13 minutes later through Nigerian international William Troost-Ekong, who poked home a Michel Vlap’s deflected cross into an empty net.

Vlap scored the resulting penalty from a foul on Younis Abdelrahman by Al Gharafa’s Rayyan Ahmed inside their box before Hussein put the icing on the cake in injury time to seal the victory.

Al Sailiya 3-2 Al Shahania

Al Sailiya registered a fighting 3-2 win over Al Shahania in their Week 19 of 2025-2026 season Doha Bank Stars League at the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium on Wednesday.

Diogo Amaro (2nd minute), Matias Nani (7th minute), Younes Belhanda (61st minute) scored for Al Sailiya, while the goals for Al Shahania came from Alvaro Sanz (59th minute), Abdoulaye Traore (71st minute).

The valuable win took Al Sailiya’s tally to 18 points and to be eleventh in the standings while the loss pushed Al Shahania (17 points) into the twelfth and relegation spot.

Amaro opened the scoring early for the winners heading a free kick from Belhanda, and the lead was soon doubled by a header from Nani off a corner kick.

Sanz grabbed a chance to strike from centre inside the box in the second session for Al Shahania but Al Sailiya hit back again as Belhanda unleashed a powerful kick from top of the box.

Umm Salal 0-0 Qatar SC

Umm Salal and Qatar SC shared a goalless draw in their Week 19 match of the 2025-2026 season Doha Bank Stars League at the Khalifa International Stadium on Wednesday.

An added point from the game meant that Qatar SC moved to 28 points to remain in fifth place in the standings while Umm Salal stayed in ninth place with 20 points.

Both sides battled hard but failed to find a breakthrough. In stoppage time, Qatar SC’s Sebastian Soria came close making a header, off a Faïz Selamani cross, but the ball missed the top right corner.

The second session saw more exchanges with Qatar SC being on target more than their rivals but sans success.

Traore reduced the deficit for Al Shahania but they couldn’t find an equalizer.

Al Sailiya’s Omar Yahya was sent off after a second yellow in 90+2 minute.
