Doha: Kristen Vanderveen continued her impressive showing in Doha, clinching the CSI3* 1.50m Faults & Time title on the penultimate day of the Al Shaqab Cup on Saturday.
Riding Bull Run’s Mary, the American rider delivered a flawless round, clocking 63.31 seconds to secure a commanding victory at the Longines Outdoor Arena. South Africa’s Matthew Morrison, aboard Quebec, finished second in 68.17 seconds, while Syria’s Mohamad Mogheeth Alshehab on Jaguar MS claimed third in 68.79 seconds. The win marked Vanderveen’s third international triumph with her horse since forming their partnership earlier this year.
In the CSI5* Special Two Phase 1.45m class, Qatar’s Bassem Mohammed delivered a standout performance, guiding Wathnan Chaccball to victory with a clear round in 34.44 seconds. Fellow Qatari Faleh Suwead Al-Ajami secured second place aboard Wathnan Quality Street in 35.67 seconds, while Alshehab returned to the podium, finishing third with Saphir Z in 36.78 seconds.

Qatar’s Sheikh Fahad Jassim Al-Thani topped the CSI1* Special Two Phase 1.15m event, riding Ciara LU to a clear round in 30.95 seconds. Mohammed Nasser Al-Qadi took second place on Calle Cool 47 (35.04 seconds), with Abdulrahman Hamad Juma finishing third aboard Dorus HH in 35.58 seconds.
In the CSIY-B Special Two Phase 1.25m, Qatar’s Mohammed Jassim Al-Thani claimed top honours on Granie Mouche with a clear round in 38.13 seconds. Bahrain’s Sultan Abdulaziz Mayoof Alromaihi secured second place on Johelys de Fondcombe (40.91 seconds), while Kuwait’s Madhy Alkhamis finished third aboard Cash Maker Vd Laarseheide in 41.27 seconds.
Qatar continued its dominance in the CSI3* Special Two Phase 1.35m, with Saad Ahmed Al-Saad guiding Craquante de Mazin to victory in 28.40 seconds. Saeed Hamad Juma followed closely in second on Wathnan Diesel (28.48 seconds), while Saudi Arabia’s Khalid Al-Hadi took third aboard Capoen in 28.55 seconds.
In the CSI3* Faults & Time 1.45m class, Jordan’s Nasouh Kayali secured first place riding High Score, completing the course in 71.24 seconds. Germany’s Frederike Staack finished second aboard Chelsius PS in 76.20 seconds, while Kuwait’s Fawaz Rashed claimed third with Gaia des Forets in 77.07 seconds.
Meanwhile, in the CSI1* Faults & Time 1.30m, Qatar’s Ibrahim Khalid Al-Kuwari emerged victorious aboard Flexy Bel Z with a clear round in 59.99 seconds. Sheikh Fahad Jassim Al-Thani added another podium finish, taking second place on Be Wineham in 60.37 seconds, while Canada’s Rami Younis completed the top three riding Mauran S in 67.78 seconds.
