AFC names Aspetar Official Medical Partner until 2029

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has announced Aspetar as its Official Medical Partner for all major AFC club competitions and selected national team tournaments through to June 2029.

Headquartered in Doha, Aspetar is globally recognised as a leading orthopaedic and sports medicine hospital, delivering specialised care to elite athletes across multiple disciplines. Under the agreement, Aspetar will collaborate closely with the AFC to enhance medical standards and support the continued development of football across Asia.

The partnership builds on a long-standing relationship between the two organisations. Aspetar previously served as the official medical service provider for the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023, where it delivered comprehensive healthcare services to players at one of the continent’s premier tournaments.

An accredited AFC Medical Centre of Excellence, Aspetar also played a key role as Premier Partner of the 8th AFC Medical Conference held in Kuala Lumpur in July 2025, further underscoring its contribution to advancing football medicine.

AFC General Secretary Windsor John described the agreement as a strategic milestone, emphasising that the collaboration strengthens athlete welfare and sets new benchmarks for medical care across Asian football.

Aspetar Acting Director General Khalid Ali Al Mawlawi said the partnership reflects a shared commitment to athlete health, medical education, and research, adding that the institution is proud to support the growth of football medicine in Asia and beyond.

Patrick Murphy, Chief Executive Officer of Asia Football Group, welcomed the agreement, noting that the collaboration brings together world-class sports medicine expertise and elite Asian football, reinforcing efforts to safeguard player wellbeing and drive the game’s development across the continent.
