London: Arsenal kicked off their Premier League title campaign with a strong performance, securing a 2-0 win over Wolves on Saturday thanks to goals from Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka.
German forward Havertz, gave Mikel Arteta’s team the lead in the first half at the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal dominated the match against a Wolves side that lacked attacking creativity, which helped Havertz give the Gunners the lead in the 25th minute.
After the break, Saka sealed the victory with a powerful strike, capping off a smooth team move and reinforcing Arsenal’s determination to challenge Manchester City for the title.
This victory was a crucial statement for Arsenal, especially after Arteta acknowledged that the team needs to be nearly flawless to overcome City’s four-year dominance.
Despite a record-breaking 2023/24 season, where Arsenal won more games than ever before, they fell just short of the title, finishing two points behind City and settling for second place for the second year in a row.
Arsenal has not won the league since Arsene Wenger’s ‘Invincibles’ went unbeaten in the 2003-04 season.
