World Grand Prix: O’Sullivan withdraws from Hong Kong

Ronnie O'Sullivan has won 41 ranking events since turning professional in 1992

Seven-time world champion Ronnie O’Sullivan has withdrawn from next week’s World Grand Prix in Hong Kong due to medical reasons.

The 49-year-old Englishman was scheduled to face China’s Si Jiahui in the opening round on Wednesday but will now be replaced by Iranian Hossein Vafaei.

Earlier in February, O’Sullivan issued an apology for pulling out of recent events, citing the need to focus on his health and wellbeing.

O’Sullivan will next be eligible to compete at the World Snooker Championship in April, as he can no longer qualify for this month’s Players Championship or Tour Championship events.
