Arsenal held by Man United as title hopes fade

A powerful strike from Declan Rice earned Arsenal a 1-1 draw at Manchester United, but it was a hollow result as the Gunners’ Premier League title hopes continued to dwindle.

With Liverpool holding a commanding 15-point lead, Arsenal’s chances of catching up appear increasingly remote.

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes had given the hosts the lead with a stunning 25-yard free-kick in first-half stoppage time, punishing Arsenal’s lack of cutting edge despite dominating possession.

David Raya’s error in goal had gifted United the opportunity, but the Arsenal goalkeeper made amends with several crucial saves in the second half.

Rice’s equalizer, a superb rising drive past Andre Onana, came with 16 minutes remaining, but it was too little, too late for Arsenal. The draw left United in 14th place, while Arsenal’s fading title hopes were dealt another blow.

Fernandes was the standout performer for United, leading by example and almost winning the game with a late effort that Raya miraculously saved.

The Portuguese midfielder has been a shining light in an otherwise underwhelming season for United.

Arsenal’s struggles in front of goal continue to undermine their challenge, with the lack of a recognized striker a glaring issue.

Despite dominating possession, the Gunners failed to apply sustained pressure on United’s defense, relying on Raya’s saves to secure a point.

The result leaves Arsenal playing for a top-four spot, with their title aspirations all but extinguished.
