Yamal and Raphinha star as Barca breeze into last eight

Teen sensation Lamine Yamal stole the show as Barcelona defeated Benfica 3-1 on the night (3-1 aggregate) to secure a spot in the Champions League quarter-finals.

The 17-year-old prodigy provided a dazzling assist for Raphinha’s opening goal, followed by a breathtaking strike to put Barca ahead 2-1.

Benfica’s Nicolas Otamendi had briefly leveled the score with a superb header, but Yamal’s brilliance proved decisive.

Raphinha sealed the victory with a clinical finish, his second goal of the night, after a brief VAR review confirmed the score.

Yamal’s outstanding performance was matched by Raphinha’s impressive display, with the Brazilian forward contributing to 16 Champions League goals this season (11 goals, 5 assists).

This feat surpasses all but Lionel Messi’s record in the 2011-2012 season.

Barcelona’s victory sets up a potential quarter-final clash with either Borussia Dortmund or Lille. Despite missing a late opportunity to extend their lead, Hansi Flick’s side demonstrated their prowess and depth, solidifying their position among the Champions League contenders.
