Juventus sack boss Motta and replace him with Tudor

Juventus have dismissed manager Thiago Motta after just nine months in charge, appointing Croatian Igor Tudor as his replacement.

Motta, 42, leaves with the 36-time Serie A champions sitting fifth in the table, one point outside the Champions League qualification spots.

His final game was a 3-0 defeat to Fiorentina last weekend, following a 4-0 home loss to Atalanta the previous week. Juventus also exited the Champions League in the play-off round against PSV Eindhoven and were knocked out of the Coppa Italia, which they won last season.

Tudor, 46, made over 150 appearances for Juventus between 1998 and 2007. Since beginning his managerial career with Hajduk Split in 2013, he has coached clubs including Galatasaray, Udinese, Verona, and Marseille. His most recent role was a brief three-month spell at Lazio at the end of last season.

Tudor’s first game in charge will be a home fixture against Genoa in Serie A on Saturday.
