Valencia stun Real Madrid with 95th-minute winner

Hugo Duro’s dramatic injury-time header sealed a stunning win for Valencia, dealing a blow to Real Madrid’s La Liga title hopes.

Deep into stoppage time—95 minutes on the clock—Rafa Mir delivered a brilliant cross that Duro nodded in from close range, silencing the Bernabeu.

Earlier, Mouctar Diakhaby had given Valencia the lead with a towering header from Andre Almeida’s pinpoint delivery.

Real Madrid had a golden opportunity to equalize before the break, but Vinicius Jr’s penalty was comfortably saved by Giorgi Mamardashvili after César Tárrega brought down Kylian Mbappé in the box.

Vinicius made amends shortly after half-time, blasting a powerful shot into the roof of the net to bring the hosts level.

Mbappé came close later on, dragging a shot just wide, but endured a frustrating afternoon as Madrid struggled to find a breakthrough.

The defeat leaves Los Blancos three points adrift of leaders Barcelona, who face Real Betis later on Saturday evening.

Madrid’s penalty woes continue—five misses from the spot this season in all competitions (11 scored from 16)—their worst record since at least the 2013–14 campaign.

With Thibaut Courtois sidelined by a muscle injury and Andriy Lunin dealing with leg discomfort, 19-year-old Fran Gonzalez was handed his debut—becoming the youngest goalkeeper to start a league match for Madrid since Iker Casillas in 1999.

For Valencia, this marks a landmark victory—their first win at the Bernabeu since 2008.

Real Madrid now shift their focus to Europe, as they head to the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday for the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final against Arsenal.
