Al Sadd defeat Al Ahli to take third place in Qatar Basketball League

Doha: Al Sadd claimed third place in the 2024-2025 season of the Qatar Basketball League with a 96-86 win over Al Ahli on Monday evening at Al Gharafa Arena, in front of a vibrant crowd and a fiercely competitive atmosphere.

The game was thrilling from the outset, concluding the first quarter in a 25-25 deadlock. However, Al Sadd took control in the second quarter, outscoring their opponents 22-18. They maintained their lead in the third quarter 28-22, while the final quarter ended in another tie at 21-21, ultimately securing the bronze medal for Al Sadd.

Skyler Tyrone Flaten, Al Sadd’s standout player, delivered an impressive performance, scoring 30 points to become the game’s leading scorer.

Al Ahli’s Terry Quanell Crump also shone, contributing 29 points. This victory for Al Sadd followed their exit from the semi-finals against Al-Arabi in a thrilling three-game series. Al Arabi advanced to the third round with a decisive 91-67 victory. Al Sadd had initially won the first game 87-79, but Al Arabi rebounded in the second game, winning 89-70 to level the series at 1-1 and secure their progression. Meanwhile, Al Ahli’s hopes of reaching the final were dashed after they lost to Al-Rayyan in the semi-finals, with defeats in both matches, 87-79 and 88-66.
