Arsenal has reportedly received approval from their top transfer target, Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres, ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Premier League giants are looking to sign a new striker to bolster their firepower upfront, with Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz struggling to deliver consistently.
Gyokeres, a Sweden international, has impressed with his goal-scoring record, netting 86 goals in 93 appearances.
According to reports, Gyokeres has given Arsenal the go-ahead to pursue his signature, with the club’s director of football Andrea Berta playing a key role in convincing the attacker to join the Gunners.
Sporting manager Rui Borges has praised Gyokeres, calling him “the best in the league” and highlighting his exceptional finishing ability.
Arsenal seems to have won the race to sign Gyokeres, beating out competition from other clubs.
The Gunners have reportedly opted to pursue Gyokeres over other targets, including Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko.
They are also monitoring Aston Villa midfielder Boubacar Kamara as a potential replacement for Jorginho and Thomas Partey, who are expected to leave the club.
