Dortmund draw thriller at leaders Bayern

Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga title bid suffered a setback as they were held to a thrilling 2-2 draw by Borussia Dortmund at the Allianz Arena.

The hosts dominated the first half but couldn’t find the breakthrough until Serge Gnabry’s introduction changed the game’s momentum. Raphael Guerreiro equalized for Bayern after Dortmund took the lead through Maximilian Beier’s clever header.

Gnabry then bent home the winner, but Dortmund’s persistence paid off as Waldemar Anton turned home the rebound after Serhou Guirassy’s acrobatic effort was saved.

The draw keeps Bayern six points clear of Bayer Leverkusen, with five matches left to play. Dortmund, meanwhile, remains six points from the Champions League places.

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE IMPLICATIONS

Both teams face tough challenges in the Champions League quarter-finals. Dortmund trails Barcelona 4-0 ahead of Tuesday’s second leg, while Bayern faces Inter Milan in Italy on Wednesday, trailing 2-1 from the first leg.

The result was a pulsating encounter with both teams creating chances.

The draw might have implications for Bayern’s title bid, but Vincent Kompany’s side remains in control with a six-point lead.
