Dubois and Usyk in talks for undisputed heavyweight title clash at Wembley

Daniel Dubois and Oleksandr Usyk are in negotiations for a blockbuster rematch at Wembley Stadium on 12 July, with the undisputed heavyweight crown on the line.

Between them, the two champions hold all four major world titles: Dubois is the current IBF titleholder, while Usyk reigns as the WBA (Super), WBO, and WBC champion. The pair last met in August 2023, when Usyk stopped Dubois to retain his belts.

Now, the 27-year-old Dubois is chasing redemption, while the undefeated Usyk — 38 and boasting a perfect 23-0 record — eyes another defining moment in his glittering career.

While discussions between both camps are progressing, no contracts have yet been signed.

Since his loss to Usyk, Dubois has rebounded impressively, recording three consecutive knockout victories. However, if terms cannot be agreed for the rematch, the IBF is expected to order Dubois to defend his title against veteran contender Derek Chisora, who sits atop the sanctioning body’s rankings.

The proposed July 12 date would fall amid a packed sporting weekend, with Katie Taylor’s trilogy bout against Amanda Serrano set for the night before in New York, the final weekend of Wimbledon unfolding in London, and the Women’s Euro 2025 tournament also in full swing.

For Usyk, a return to the ring represents another chance to cement his legacy. The Ukrainian, a former undisputed cruiserweight champion, was forced to vacate his IBF belt last December ahead of his anticipated rematch with Tyson Fury. Usyk has hinted he is targeting just two more fights before retirement.

Dubois, meanwhile, had been slated to defend his IBF belt against Joseph Parker in February but withdrew due to illness during fight week.

Usyk’s most recent outing saw him defeat Tyson Fury for a second time, reinforcing his status as the division’s undisputed number one.

No British fighter has claimed the undisputed heavyweight title in the four-belt era. The last to hold that honor was Lennox Lewis, who unified the titles in 1999.
