Aaron Boupendza, a forward for the Gabon national team, has tragically passed away at the age of 28 after falling from a building in China.
At the time of his death, Boupendza was playing for Zhejiang FC in the Chinese league, having joined the club from Rapid Bucharest in January.
Boupendza earned 35 caps for Gabon and represented his country at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
He had an illustrious career, playing for clubs in several countries, including France, Portugal, Turkey, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United States.
The Gabonese football federation, Fegafoot, announced his death on social media, paying tribute to him as a great striker who made his mark during the Afcon.
The president-elect of Gabon, Gen Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, also paid tribute, describing Boupendza as a talented centre-forward who brought honor to Gabonese football.
Fegafoot extended its sincere condolences to Boupendza’s family, mourning the loss of a talented player who left a lasting impact on Gabonese football.
