Trent Alexander-Arnold has acknowledged Paris Saint-Germain’s quality but insisted Real Madrid are confident in their ability to beat any team in the world.
The English full-back, speaking after Real Madrid’s dramatic 3-2 win over Borussia Dortmund in the quarter-finals of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in the United States, praised PSG while backing his side ahead of a mouthwatering semi-final clash.
“Paris are European champions for a reason. They’re a very strong side — I’ve watched a few of their games,” said Alexander-Arnold. “But we’re just too strong. We believe we can beat anyone.”
Real Madrid progressed to the final four after goals from Gonzalo Garcia and Fran Garcia gave them a commanding 2-0 lead. Although Dortmund threatened a late comeback — with Maximilian Beier scoring and a tense finish following a Kylian Mbappe wonder goal and Dean Huijsen’s red card — Madrid held on with 10 men to seal the win.
Looking back on his time with the Spanish giants since his move from Liverpool, Alexander-Arnold said he’s relishing every moment.
“It’s been an incredible journey so far,” he said. “Playing with some of the best players in the world is a dream come true. Every time I step onto the pitch in this shirt, it’s special.”
Madrid’s semi-final opponents PSG earlier defeated Bayern Munich 2-0 at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The two European powerhouses are now set to meet at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, in what promises to be one of the tournament’s standout fixtures.
