Bellingham inspires Real Madrid to fiery Clasico victory over Barcelona

Jude Bellingham delivered a decisive performance as Real Madrid triumphed 2-1 over Barcelona in a pulsating El Clásico at the Santiago Bernabéu.

The England midfielder orchestrated the victory, setting up Kylian Mbappé for the opener with a perfectly weighted through ball before restoring Madrid’s lead with a simple tap-in just before half-time — his fourth goal in five Clasico appearances.

Barcelona had briefly drawn level through Fermin Lopez after a swift counter-attack, but Bellingham’s strike ensured Los Blancos extended their lead at the top of La Liga to five points ahead of their fierce rivals.

After losing all four Clasicos last season, Xabi Alonso’s men came out with intent, pressing high and repeatedly exploiting Barça’s defensive line.

An early VAR check denied Madrid a penalty when Vinicius Jr went down, and Mbappé also saw a stunning volley ruled out for offside.

Moments later, Bellingham’s clever turn and inch-perfect pass released Mbappé to slot past Wojciech Szczesny.

Barcelona equalised when Marcus Rashford burst forward and squared for Fermin Lopez to finish, but controversy surrounded Madrid’s second goal — Barça protested that Dean Huijsen fouled Pau Cubarsi before Bellingham converted from close range.

The second half brought more drama as VAR awarded Madrid a penalty for handball against Eric Garcia, only for Szczesny to deny Mbappé from the spot.

Madrid twice more had goals ruled out for offside in a frantic finale.

Tensions boiled over in stoppage time when Pedri was sent off for a rash challenge on Aurélien Tchouaméni, sparking clashes on the touchline as tempers flared.

The result cements Real Madrid’s position at the top of La Liga, leaving Barcelona facing an uphill battle in the title race.
