Haaland, Foden shine as Manchester City crush Dortmund 4-1 in Champions League

Erling Haaland struck against his former club as Manchester City powered past Borussia Dortmund 4-1 in the Champions League on Wednesday, with Phil Foden netting a superb brace.

The win lifted Pep Guardiola’s side to fourth in the table on 10 points from four matches, while Dortmund slipped to 14th with seven.

City controlled the game from the start, and Foden opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, driving a precise left-footed shot beyond Gregor Kobel after a neat pass from Tijjani Reijnders.

Haaland doubled the advantage seven minutes later, finishing calmly from close range after a rapid break and assist by Jeremy Doku.

Foden grabbed his second in the 57th minute, curling another stunning effort into the far corner following a similar move involving Reijnders.

Waldemar Anton gave Dortmund brief hope with a free-kick goal in the 72nd minute, sparking celebrations among their travelling supporters, but substitute Rayan Cherki sealed City’s emphatic win in stoppage time.
