Crystal Palace suffered their first defeat since late October as they were overturned 2-1 by French side Strasbourg in the Conference League.
Tyrick Mitchell put Palace ahead on 35 minutes, drilling a precise finish across goal after a slick through-ball from Jean-Philippe Mateta.
The Premier League side, unbeaten in five, should have doubled their lead before half-time, but Ismaila Sarr struck the post from 30 yards with the Strasbourg goal unguarded after keeper Mike Penders gifted away possession.
Strasbourg equalised eight minutes into the second half when captain Emanuel Emegha—set to join Chelsea next summer—steered in Diego Moreira’s low delivery.
Penders was nearly punished again when he was caught off his line midway through the half, but Adam Wharton’s long-range effort rattled the crossbar.
The young goalkeeper redeemed himself moments later with an excellent diving stop to deny Yeremy Pino from close range.
Palace’s wastefulness eventually proved costly. Julio Enciso’s free-kick cannoned off the bar in the 77th minute, allowing Samir El Mourabet to pounce on the rebound and tap home the winner.
