Nigerian Super Eagles continued their AFCON winning run heading into the Semi-Finals with an impressive and dominating performance against an Algeria side who had won all their games coming into the game. The Super Eagles who were beyond impressive, breezed past them with a comfortable 0-2 win with goals from Victor Osimhen and impressive Akor Adams in the second half.

The Super Eagles were dominating right from the first half with numerous opportunities to take the lead which was not forthcoming but assured with the intensity in which they carried out their game plan and constant front-foot pressing from defense to attack.

Eric Chelle Masterclass?

The Nigerian Head Coach, Eric Chelle continues to turn heads and marvel Nigerians with his tactical prowess and how he has been able to bring a balance and definitive style of play which the Super Eagles team had been missing for quite a long time. His 4-2-3-1 possession-based style of football which centres on three midfielders in Wilfred Ndidi, Frank Onyeka and Alex Iwobi who has been the creative spark of Nigerian team in the tournament with the midfielder’s line breaking passes into the final third and an attack of fluidity that has been flowing with intensity, creativity, crowned with assists and goals.

The fluidity of play from defense and midfield has been rewarding and exciting to see with the hot blazing trio of Galatasaray star striker Victor Osimhen, past African best player and Atalanta star, Ademola Lookman and Sevilla striker and Super Eagles new addition in attack Akor Adams have all benefitted and being instrumental to the new look of the Super Eagles in the tournament with Victor Osimhen having contributed with 4 goals and 2 assists, Lookman, 3 goals and 4 assists and Akor Adams 2 goals and 1 assist forming a total of 16 goals contributions in 6 games which is the highest goals contribution so far in the tournament.

Nigeria Vs Morocco

The tournament has now closed down to the last four, with Egypt Vs Senegal and Nigeria Vs Morocco to all stake a claim for this year’s AFCON final.

Nigeria will look to impress and proceed against the host country Morocco who will be the toughest opponent they will have to face to get to the finals of the 2025 AFCON. Morocco who has been impressive will have to be weary of the Super Eagles who has flown past all hurdles across their path. Will Morocco pose a threat or be the next?
