Doha: Qatar national football team will step up preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a series of high-level international fixtures, including a friendly against El Salvador national football team in Los Angeles on June 6.
According to the Qatar Football Association, the match forms part of an intensive build-up programme ahead of the tournament, which will be hosted across the United States, Mexico, and Canada from June 11 to July 19.
Qatar has been drawn in Group B alongside Canada, Switzerland national football team, and Bosnia and Herzegovina national football team, setting up a challenging group-stage campaign.
The team is expected to commence preparations immediately following the domestic season, beginning with a friendly against Republic of Ireland national football team on May 28. This will be followed by the clash with El Salvador before travelling to the United States for the final phase of training.
As part of their competitive readiness, Qatar will also face Switzerland in San Francisco on June 13, before taking on Canada in Vancouver on June 18. They will conclude their group-stage fixtures against Bosnia and Herzegovina in Seattle on June 24.
These fixtures are designed to fine-tune the squad’s tactical cohesion and match fitness as Qatar targets a strong showing on the world stage.
