FC Bayern Munich put on a breathtaking goalscoring exhibition at the Allianz Arena on Friday, dismantling 1. FC Union Berlin in a 7-0 rout that etched new records into German football history.
Jamal Musiala kicked off the night in the 18th minute with a neat finish following neat setup play from Alphonso Davies. From there, Michael Olise took complete charge of the match. In the 39th minute, Olise drew a foul in the penalty box, allowing Harry Kane to step up to the spot. Kane calmly converted to score his 100th Bundesliga goal, reaching the century milestone in an astonishing 98 appearances, shattering Dieter Müller’s long-standing record of 129 games.
Olise capped off his brilliant first-half performance by scoring himself in the 43rd minute, sending Vincent Kompany's men into the break with a 3-0 cushion.
The Bavarian onslaught continued after the restart. Olise turned provider in the 54th minute, floating a pin-point cross for Kane to head home his second of the evening and 101st in the league. Summer signing Ismael Saibari added a fifth in the 70th minute, his first official goal in a Bayern shirt, before Olise sealed a memorable hat-trick with two quickfire strikes in the 73rd and 76th minutes. The French international's incredible performance takes his total tally for the season to 11 goal contributions.
