"I am here to work for Real Madrid": José Mourinho unveiled in emotional reunion with Los Blancos

José Mourinho has officially completed his emotional return to Real Madrid, signing a three-year contract through June 2029 alongside club president Florentino Pérez at Ciudad Real Madrid. Marking his comeback 13 years after his initial spell, the Portuguese manager declared his return as a "mission" to restore a winning culture and instil unyielding dedication across the entire club.

In one of the most dramatic managerial reunions in modern football, José Mourinho has officially returned to Santiago Bernabéu. The 63-year-old Portuguese manager was formally presented at the boardroom of Ciudad Real Madrid alongside club president Florentino Pérez and honorary president José Martínez Pirri, putting pen to paper on a three-year contract that ties him to the club until June 30, 2029.

Mourinho's return marks a decisive turn for Real Madrid as they look to re-establish dominance following back-to-back trophy-less campaigns. During the official presentation event, Pérez presented Mourinho with a commemorative watch, a replica of the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, and a personalized Real Madrid shirt before the iconic backdrop of the club's Champions League trophies.

Speaking to the media and supporters, Mourinho delivered an impassioned address outlining his deep connection to the club and his vision for the squad:

"I am one of you. But not just today—I have always been, since the day I was presented in 2010, the day I left in 2013, I am one of you," Mourinho stated. "I feel this is a MISSION. It goes beyond words. I am here to help everyone become better and to create a culture of work, responsibility, and ambition."

Emphasizing the collective mindset required at Valdebebas, he added:

"I am here to work FOR Real Madrid. Everyone should follow this way. I want everyone that enters Valdebebas to feel it, that we are working FOR Real Madrid. This club is the TOP destination possible professionally and emotionally."

Mourinho originally managed Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013, famously securing the 2011–12 La Liga title with a record-breaking 100 points, as well as lifting the Copa del Rey and Supercopa de España. Rejoining from Benfica, where Real Madrid triggered his release clause to secure his services, Mourinho now takes over from interim manager Álvaro Arbeloa.

With pre-season preparations already underway, Mourinho's immediate priority will be instilling discipline, aligning squad dynamics, and mounting a fierce challenge for domestic and European honors in the 2026–27 campaign.
