Astana: Qatari athletes on Sunday won five gold, three silver, and one bronze medals in the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships 2023, held in Astana, Kazakhstan, with the participation of 500 male and female athletes from 30 countries.
Mohammed Al Qarni won the gold medal for the 3,000-meter race, with a time of (07:55.25 minutes). Abdirahman Saeed Hassan secured the silver medal for the 800-meter race, with a time of (1:49.58 minutes), whilst his colleague Musab Abdul Rahman won the bronze for the same race, with a time of (1:49.68 minutes).
The relay team won the 400-meter race four times, earning the silver medal, whereas contestant Saif Hamida won the silver medal in the pole vault competition, recording a height of (5.35 meters).
With the five medals, Qatar’s tally rose to eight coloured medals in the championship: two golds, four silvers, and one bronze, following Ammar Ismail’s win of the gold medal in the 400-m race, Mohammed Al Qarni’s win of the silver medal in the 1500-m race, and Musaab Adam’s win of the bronze medal in the 1500-m race on the championship’s first day.
