Christensen wants Barcelona stay

Andreas Christensen

Andreas Christensen has no intention of leaving Barcelona this month despite rumours linking him with a move away from the club, according to Diario Sport.

Christensen, 28, is one of several players to be linked with a transfer as Barça look to raise money to strengthen in other areas of their squad.

Newcastle are among the clubs reported to maintain an interest in signing him.

However, Sport say that the Danish international is happy in the city and focused on earning his place in new coach Hansi Flick’s side.

Christensen was a substitute in the opening day win over Valencia, with Pau Cubarsí and Iñigo Martínez preferred ahead of him at centre-back, coming on in the second half.

The former Chelsea player was also used in midfield by former coach Xavi Hernández, but youngster Marc Bernal and Marc Casadó got the nod in the middle of the pitch at Mestalla.
