Qatar table tennis teams depart for Jordan to participate in 2024 West Asian National Teams Championship

Doha: The national table tennis delegation of Qatar has departed for Amman, the capital of Jordan, in preparation for the 2024 West Asian National Teams Championship. This event is scheduled to take place at the Sports Palace Hall in Al-Hussein Youth CQatar Table Tennis Federation (QTTF), led by Khalil bin Ahmed Al Mohannadity from August 26 to 31.

The delegation comprises teams in the male category for ages under 11, 13, 15, and 17, while the female category will feature teams under 11 years old and a women’s team competing in the tournament.

The Qatar Table Tennis Federation (QTTF), led by Khalil bin Ahmed Al Mohannadi, has announced the roster of players who will participate in the championship. The delegation is headed by Khaled Ali Al-Kuwari, with administrators Ahmed Khalil Al-Mohannadi and Noura Al-Abri, alongside coaches Daniel, Rashidov, and Gola.

The under-17 team includes Sultan Khalid Al Kuwari, Rawad Akram Al Nasser, Ahmed Eid Qarni, and Abbad Nasser Al Abdullah. The under-15 team features Youssef Abdul Zaher, Mohammed Al Sulaiti, and Abdul Aziz Nasser Al Abdullah. The under-13 team consists of Issa Al Haddad, Rabia Al Kuwari, and Abdul Aziz Al Abdullah, while the under-11 team includes Mubarak Marzouq Al Mansouri and Rabia Khalid Al Kuwari.

The women’s team is represented by Maryam Ali, Fawzia Al Malki, and Aya Magdy, with the under-11 team comprising Dana Al Kaabi and Serena Sheikh. Khalil Al Mohannadi, the federation president, emphasized the importance of a meeting with the players and mission members, which included a dinner at the Preparation and Training Center in Ras Abu Aboud prior to their departure. He expressed his strong confidence in the players’ abilities to achieve commendable results and elevate Qatar’s status in the Asian Championship.

The players representing Team Qatar have committed to exerting their utmost efforts to secure the best possible outcomes and to accumulate the highest number of medals throughout the tournament across all age categories.

In a related development, the Jordanian Table Tennis Federation has announced that preparations are being intensified to host this edition of the tournament. Federation President Tariq Al-Zoubi has affirmed that the capital of Jordan is fully prepared to welcome the guests from West Asia.

The tournament is set to feature participation from 11 out of 12 countries, including Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, Kuwait, and the host nation, Jordan. However, the representatives from the Sultanate of Oman will be present at the competition but will not participate in the games due to their engagement in another concurrent event.

The matches will encompass all team categories, with the exception of the under-19 age group. Anticipation is high for a thrilling and competitive atmosphere, reflecting the significant advancements in the sport within the West Asia region.
