Raheem Sterling is prepared to open discussions over a move to Manchester United, reports the Daily Telegraph.
Sources told ESPN’s Rob Dawson on Monday that Chelsea are considering rivalling Juventus for the signing of Jadon Sancho, and there’s now a suggestion that Sterling could move in the opposite direction.
Sterling is not part of the first-team squad under new Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca and will leave Stamford Bridge if a suitable deal arises before Friday’s transfer deadline.
The 29-year-old still has three more years on his £300,000 a week contract having joined Chelsea from Manchester City. The size of his salary makes any deal complicated as he may need to accept a wage cut.
