Doha: Al Rayyan secured a significant victory against Al Shamal, winning with a score of 103-83 in a game held yesterday evening at the Al Gharafa Hall. The game was part of the ninth round of the 2024-2025 Qatar Basketball League season, marking the first round of the second half. With this triumph, Al Rayyan reclaimed the top position in the league, leading Al Sadd by a single point.
The game commenced with both teams displaying equal intensity, with Al Rayyan narrowly winning the first quarter by a single point, finishing at 26-25. However, in the second quarter, Al Rayyan demonstrated remarkable dominance, excelling in both defensive and offensive strategies, which allowed them to extend their lead significantly with a score of 34-17.
In the third quarter, Al Shamal exhibited resilience, capitalizing on some defensive lapses from Al Rayyan and outscoring them 24-23. Nevertheless, Al Rayyan maintained the overall advantage. The final quarter was marked by intense competition, but Al Rayyan managed to secure it with a score of 20-17, solidifying their impressive victory.
Justin Jamal Wright-Foreman was the standout player for Al Rayyan, contributing an impressive 45 points and playing a crucial role in the team’s success. Conversely, Mackey Zion Jowan Richard from Al Shamal also made a notable impact, scoring 18 points and being recognized as his team’s best performer.
As a result of this victory, Al Rayyan’s total points increased to 17, allowing them to regain the league lead over Al Sadd, who holds second place. Al Shamal, despite the defeat, remains in third place with 14 points, keeping their competitive aspirations alive.
