Doha: The 2024-2025 Qatar Basketball League season maintained its thrilling momentum during the 11th round, highlighted by notable outcomes, particularly Al Ahli’s triumph over Al Wakrah in a highly-entertaining game, as well as Al Khor’s unexpected victory against Al Sadd.
In the opening game, Al Ahli secured a significant win against Al Wakrah, concluding with a 77-68 score during the match held on Wednesday evening at the QBF Indoor Hall.
The contest remained closely contested throughout its duration, beginning with Al Ahli taking the lead in the first quarter, finishing at 22-17, largely due to the impressive performance of their player, Raekwon Deshawn Rogers.
During the second quarter, Al Wakrah managed to narrow the gap, winning that period 17-13, thanks to the outstanding efforts of its players.
Al Ahli regained control in the third quarter, outscoring Al Wakrah 22-17, thereby solidifying their advantage. In the final quarter, Al Ahli successfully preserved their lead, winning 20-17 and concluding the game with a final score of 77-68.
Raekwon Deshawn Rogers emerged as the standout player, contributing 21 points and playing a crucial role in Al Ahli’s success. Conversely, Sindou Ismail Diallo from Al Wakrah led his team with 26 points, but his efforts fell short of securing a victory.
With this win, Al Ahli increased their total to 18 points, positioning themselves in third place, while Al Wakrah remained in eighth place with 13 points.
In a surprising turn of events, Al Khor triumphed over Al-Sadd with a final score of 75-73 in their matchup. The game commenced with Al Sadd taking the lead in the first quarter, finishing at 25-24.
However, Al Khor rebounded in the second quarter, securing a victory of 17-12. Al Sadd responded in the third quarter, winning 19-18, which allowed them to stay competitive. In the fourth quarter, Al Sadd held a narrow lead of one point at 17-16, but ultimately, Al Khor clinched the game with their final score of 75-73.
Billy Joel Hardy from Al Khor was the standout player, scoring 28 points, while Skyle Tyrone Flatten from Al Sadd contributed 23 points. With this victory, Al-Khor improved their total to 12 points, yet remained in ninth place, while Al Sadd retained their position in second place with 19 points, trailing the leader, Al Rayyan, by two points.
In another fixture of the 11th round, Al Shamal will face Qatar SC at five o’clock in the evening on Thursday at Al Gharafa Hall. Al Shamal enter this match in fifth place with 15 points, while Qatar Club are positioned sixth with 14 points.
