Al Shamal overcome Al Ahli, Al Gharafa beat Qatar SC in basketball league

Doha: The 13th round of the 2024-2025 season of the Qatar Basketball League showcased a thrilling display of dominance by the Al Shamal and Al Gharafa against Al Ahli and Qatar SC, respectively. This event took place at Al Gharafa Hall on Saturday evening, where both teams secured significant victories that improved their standings in the league. The players exhibited exceptional performances that significantly influenced the outcomes of the games.

In a fiercely contested game, the Al Shamal team triumphed over Al Ahli with a score of 68-63, demonstrating their defensive and offensive prowess throughout all four quarters. The match maintained a high level of excitement from beginning to end, with Al Shamal exhibiting remarkable focus despite Al Ahli’s relentless efforts to regain control.

Maki Zion Jowan Richard emerged as the standout player, scoring 20 points and leading his team to a crucial victory. On the opposing side, Raiquin Deshaun Rogers excelled for Al Ahli, contributing 19 points in a valiant effort to secure a win for his team, though ultimately falling short.

With this victory, Al Shamal increased their total to 21 points, solidifying their position in third place, while Al Ahli, with the same point total, slipped to fourth. Consequently, Al Shamal’s prospects for competing for higher rankings have improved, whereas Al Ahli must enhance their performance in the upcoming rounds to retain its position within the top four.

In the second game, Al Gharafa secured a significant victory over Qatar SC, winning with a score of 83-73 in a thrilling contest marked by intensity and rivalry. Al Gharafa commenced the game with a strong performance, concluding the first quarter with a lead of 27-19. However, they were unable to maintain this advantage in the second quarter, which ended in a 20-20 stalemate.

During the second half, Al Gharafa increased their efforts in the third quarter, although Qatar SC managed to edge ahead with a score of 16-13. In the final quarter, Al-Gharafa rallied back, finishing the game with a score of 23 points against Qatar SC’s 18.

Despite the defeat, Dejan Janjic of Qatar SC stood out as the most notable player, scoring 32 points and consistently posing a threat to the Al Gharafa defence. On the other hand, Nedim Muslich emerged as Al Gharafa’s top scorer with 26 points, playing a crucial role in leading his team to this vital victory.

With this win over Qatar SC, Al Gharafa elevated their total points to 17, climbing to sixth place in the standings, while Qatar Club fell to seventh, also with 17 points. This victory represents a crucial advancement for Al Gharafa in the league, while Qatar SC will need to rectify their errors in future games to avoid further decline in their standings.
