Kane makes history as Bayern secure UCL Q/final spot

Harry Kane has scored 10 goals in 11 Champions League appearances this season

Harry Kane etched his name in the record books as Bayern Munich sealed their place in the Champions League quarter-finals with a commanding victory over Bayer Leverkusen.

The England captain struck in the 52nd minute, bundling home from close range after Patrik Schick’s failed clearance of a Joshua Kimmich free-kick.

His goal—his 10th in this season’s competition—set a new record for the most goals scored by an English player in a single Champions League campaign.

Bayern entered the second leg with a comfortable 3-0 advantage from the first meeting and once again proved dominant in Leverkusen. The hosts, managed by Xabi Alonso, needed a historic comeback to overturn the deficit but struggled to break down Bayern’s resolute defense.

Vincent Kompany’s side showed promise early on, with Michael Olise and Kingsley Coman both going close in the first half.

However, without their injured playmaker Florian Wirtz, Leverkusen lacked creativity in the final third. Their first shot on target only arrived in the 65th minute, when Jeremie Frimpong forced Jonas Urbig into a smart low save, followed shortly by Schick’s tame header.

Bayern capitalized on the extra space left by Leverkusen’s attacking push, and Alphonso Davies put the result beyond doubt in the 71st minute, tapping in Kane’s cross.

The striker nearly added a third himself, slicing an effort wide before rattling the crossbar with a sharp turn and shot. Jamal Musiala also hit the post late on after being played through by Serge Gnabry.

With a 5-0 aggregate victory, Bayern march into the quarter-finals, where they will face Inter Milan. The first leg is scheduled for April 7/8, with the return fixture a week later.
