Addo calls for unity as Ghana eye victory over Chad

Ghana head coach Otto Addo has urged national support as the Black Stars prepare to face Chad in their World Cup qualifier at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday evening.

Current Form

The Black Stars currently sit second in Group I, having won three of their four World Cup qualifying matches. They trail group leaders Comoros due to an inferior goal difference.

Meanwhile, Chad’s campaign has been disappointing, with Les Sao losing all four of their matches and languishing at the bottom of the standings. However, their upcoming clash with Ghana presents a chance to earn their first points.

What Was Said

Ghana’s Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has expressed reservations about the Ghana Football Association’s decision to retain Otto Addo as head coach.

“I met the GFA, and they explained their decision to keep Otto. Am I fully satisfied? Time will tell. But I raised my concerns, and those concerns, I registered them at the meeting with the GFA,” Adams said.

“However, given the crucial games ahead, making a coaching change now might not be the best move.”

Players to Watch

Thomas Partey (Ghana) – The Arsenal midfielder has rejoined the national team after an extended absence. With the opportunity to represent the Black Stars again, Partey will be eager to deliver a standout performance and help push Ghana closer to World Cup qualification.

Marius Mouandilmadji (Chad) – The Samsunspor forward has been in fine form, netting eight goals and providing four assists in the Turkish Super Lig this season. Having already scored in Chad’s qualifying campaign, he will aim to carry that momentum into the clash against Ghana.
