Gravenberch withdraws from Netherlands squad

Liverpool midfielder Ryan Gravenberch has been forced to withdraw from the Netherlands squad for their upcoming Nations League quarter-final matches against Spain due to an injury sustained during the Carabao Cup final.

The 22-year-old suffered a knock during Liverpool’s defeat to Newcastle at Wembley on Sunday, and the Netherlands’ national team confirmed on social media that Gravenberch is still struggling with the injury.

As a result, Dutch boss Ronald Koeman has decided not to call up a replacement for the matches against Spain, which are scheduled to take place in Rotterdam on Thursday and Valencia on Sunday.

Gravenberch’s injury may also put him in doubt for Liverpool’s next fixture, the highly anticipated Merseyside derby against Everton on April 2.
