Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has been sidelined with an ankle injury sustained during Sunday’s FA Cup win over Bournemouth.
Despite initial concerns, the club remains optimistic that Haaland will return to action this season, including the Fifa Club World Cup.
Haaland, who has scored an impressive 30 goals in 40 games this season, was forced off the pitch in the 61st minute after scoring the equalizer.
The Norwegian was later spotted leaving the Vitality Stadium on crutches, with his left ankle in a protective boot.
Following tests on Monday, Haaland has been referred to a specialist to determine the full extent of the injury.
Manchester City is confident that their star striker will make a full recovery and contribute to the team’s remaining fixtures this season.
The FA Cup now represents City’s last hope for silverware this season, after a disappointing Premier League campaign and early exits from the Champions League and Carabao Cup.
With Haaland’s injury adding to the team’s woes, manager Pep Guardiola will be eager to have his key player back in action as soon as possible.
