Ticket sales for World Table Tennis Championships begins

Doha: The Qatar Table Tennis Federation (QTTF), led by Khalil bin Ahmed Al-Mohannadi, has officially announced the commencement of ticket sales for the World Table Tennis Championships, set to take place in Doha from May 17 to 25.

To facilitate ticket purchases, the Qatar Federation has created a dedicated page on the widely-used “Q-Tickets” website, allowing fans to buy tickets for matches held at either Lusail Hall or Qatar University Hall, the venues for the competitions.

In conjunction with the ticket sales announcement, the official website of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) released a welcoming message for fans traveling to Doha for this significant global event, highlighting the straightforward entry process into Qatar and the ease of purchasing tickets. The ITTF report noted, “Twenty-one years after making history as the first World Championship in the Middle East in 2004, Doha is preparing to write a new chapter for this esteemed sport.”

Furthermore, it mentioned that the 2025 edition is set to deliver unmatched excitement with five events showcasing the world’s top talent competing for titles in men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles. All singles matches will be contested in a best-of-7 format, while doubles matches will follow a best-of-5 format, ensuring intense competition over the nine days of the tournament.

The report concluded by stating, “Tickets for the World Table Tennis Championships Finals Doha 2025 are now available for purchase through the official ticketing platform, Q-Tickets. We eagerly anticipate welcoming you to Doha!”

Additionally, the ITTF announced the opening of applications for media accreditation, both local and international, to cover the tournament. The ITTF expressed, “We are delighted to invite the media to join us in reporting on this thrilling event, scheduled to take place in Doha.” It further noted that media accreditation at the tournament venue grants access to all on-site media facilities, including attendance at all matches.

Applications will be accepted until April 9, 2025. Remote media access is available, providing online entry to tailored media content such as schedules, results, photographs, quick quotes, and media notes. Applications will remain open until the conclusion of the event.

In parallel, the Qatar Table Tennis Association has ramped up its preparations to host the tournament. The organizing committee is dedicated to ensuring a remarkable and unique edition of the 2025 World Championship, which Qatar will host for the second time, having previously done so in 2004.

Qatar is distinguished as the first Arab and Gulf nation to host the world championship on two occasions, with its inaugural event taking place in 2004. The country is equipped with all the necessary elements to ensure the success of any international sporting event, featuring some of the finest sports facilities in the Middle East and globally, along with proficient Qatari administrative capabilities for effective organization.

Thani Al Zarraa, a member of the Federation’s Board of Directors and Chairman of the National Teams Committee, affirmed that the Federation is fully prepared to host and manage the tournament scheduled for next May. In statements to the press, Al-Zarraa remarked, “We have reached the semi-final stages and have completed approximately 90 percent of the preparatory tasks for the tournament. We have finalized hotel selections for the delegations, choosing five 5-star hotels. Transportation arrangements have been established for both players and tournament guests from the hotels to the venues at Lusail and Qatar University.”

He also mentioned that the tournament’s mascot will be revealed in the coming weeks. The location for the tournament draw, set to take place at the Mall of Qatar, was announced for the end of this month, and “we are nearly ready for the kick-off.”

World stars and top-ranked players to gather in Doha

The World Table Tennis Championship will showcase prominent figures in the sport, including world champions and a selection of elite-ranked athletes. The roster of participants is set to be announced in early April, prior to the tournament draw scheduled for the end of this month. The involvement of highly ranked players is expected to intensify the competition, reflecting the tournament’s considerable international importance, which is highly anticipated by fans globally.

Qatar keen to host the best tournament
The Qatar Federation has demonstrated a strong commitment to ensuring thorough preparations for the World Championships, fulfilling all the criteria set by the International Table Tennis Federation to host an exceptional and remarkable tournament. This year, the Federation has successfully conducted three combined tournaments, along with an additional event in January, achieving record participation from top-ranked players globally.

The organization of these combined international tournaments has acted as a valuable practice opportunity for the Qatar Federation’s team, equipping them for significant events such as the World Championship. Observations made by officials from the International Table Tennis Federation revealed their satisfaction with Qatar’s level of preparedness, highlighting their confidence in the Federation’s ability to host a unique and outstanding edition that stands apart from previous World Table Tennis Championships.
