Real Madrid edge Getafe to close gap on Barcelona

Arda Guler’s 21st-minute goal proved decisive as Real Madrid defeated Getafe 1-0, cutting Barcelona’s lead at the top of La Liga to four points.

The win eases pressure on Carlo Ancelotti’s team ahead of Saturday’s Copa del Rey final against Barcelona.

Guler’s swift finish opened the scoring, and despite Getafe’s chances after the break, Real Madrid held on for the win.

Thibaut Courtois made a crucial save in stoppage time to deny Alvaro Rodriguez, securing the three points for Real Madrid.

The win keeps Real Madrid in contention for the La Liga title, with five games left to play, including a crucial match against Barcelona on May 11.

Getafe remain 12th, struggling to find consistency and facing an uphill battle to secure a European spot.
