Kane’s Bayern denied title party by late Leipzig goal

RB Leipzig scored a dramatic equaliser deep into stoppage time to hold Bayern Munich to a 3-3 draw and delay their Bundesliga title celebrations.

Yussuf Poulsen found the net in the 94th minute, denying Bayern the victory they needed to clinch their 34th league crown and wrest the title back from Bayer Leverkusen.

Despite holding a nine-point lead over Leverkusen with a +30 goal difference, Bayern now require just one more point to be crowned champions.

Vincent Kompany’s side had fought back impressively from a two-goal deficit at half-time, with second-half goals from Eric Dier, Michael Olise, and Leroy Sane putting them 3-2 ahead.

England striker Harry Kane, suspended for the match, had made his way pitchside as Bayern prepared for a title celebration — only to see it spoiled at the death by Poulsen’s cool finish over Jonas Urbig.

Leipzig had stunned the visitors early on, with 21-year-old Benjamin Sesko opening the scoring with a spectacular outside-of-the-boot strike.

Lukas Klostermann added a second with a well-taken header just before the break.

But Bayern responded with two quick goals in under a minute — Dier pulling one back before Olise slotted in the equaliser seconds later.

Sane’s brilliant curling strike with six minutes remaining looked to have sealed the win, but Leipzig had the final word through Poulsen’s late intervention.

Bayern could still secure the title on Sunday if Leverkusen fail to beat SC Freiburg. If Leverkusen win, Bayern will have another chance to clinch the title at home against Borussia Monchengladbach on May 9.
