13 injured as car hits fans outside Espanyol vs Barcelona derby

Thirteen people were injured on Thursday after a car ploughed into a group of fans outside the stadium ahead of the derby between Espanyol and Barcelona.

The La Liga match, which saw Barcelona clinch the title with a 2-0 victory, was briefly delayed in its early stages as the referee was updated by police about the incident.

Authorities in Barcelona confirmed that four of the injured were taken to hospital, though none are believed to be in serious condition.

Police also stated that the crash posed no threat to spectators inside the stadium.

The driver has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and causing injury.
