Late Mbappe, Bellingham goals sink 9-man Sevilla in Ancelotti’s final away game

Late strikes from Kylian Mbappé and Jude Bellingham guided Real Madrid to a 2-0 win over nine-man Sevilla at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán, in what was Carlo Ancelotti’s final away match in charge of Los Blancos.

Despite having Loïc Badé and Isaac Romero sent off in each half, Sevilla frustrated Real for much of the evening.

However, Mbappé finally broke the deadlock with 15 minutes remaining, notching his 29th La Liga goal of the season.

Given space outside the area, the Frenchman rifled a low shot past Orjan Nyland to put the visitors ahead.

Bellingham then sealed the victory in stoppage time, heading home from a Gonzalo García cross to end the contest.

Real Madrid entered the match with their title hopes already dashed following Barcelona’s 2-0 win over Espanyol on Thursday, which secured the Catalans their 28th league title.

The result meant Ancelotti will finish his final season at the Bernabéu without a major trophy, ahead of his expected move to manage Brazil.

For Sevilla, the match capped off a chaotic week. After confirming their survival in La Liga with a 1-0 win over Las Palmas on Tuesday—just days after violent fan protests forced players to stay overnight at the training ground—they endured another difficult evening.

Badé was shown a straight red card just 12 minutes in for bringing down Mbappé, who had latched onto a lofted pass from Bellingham.

Despite being a man down, Sevilla nearly went into the break ahead when Álvaro Pascual, scorer in the Las Palmas win, stole possession deep in Real’s half but hit the side netting.

Romero’s second-half introduction lasted under a minute as his yellow card for a foul on Aurélien Tchouaméni was upgraded to red following VAR review.

Despite the numerical disadvantage, Sevilla continued to resist, with Nemanja Gudelj clearing Federico Valverde’s shot off the line and Mbappé later striking the crossbar.

Eventually, Real’s pressure told. Mbappé’s precise finish broke the resistance, and Bellingham’s late goal—his ninth of the league campaign—wrapped up the win, though he will miss the season finale after collecting a fifth yellow card.

Ancelotti will bid farewell to the Bernabéu on May 25 against Real Sociedad, before officially beginning his new chapter with Brazil.
