Barcelona starlet Lamine Yamal has signed a new six-year contract, extending his stay at the club until 2031 after a breakthrough campaign in which he played a key role in securing a domestic treble.
The 17-year-old winger, whose previous deal was set to expire in 2026, enjoyed a remarkable season under new manager Hansi Flick, scoring 18 goals and providing 25 assists in 55 appearances as Barça lifted La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup.
Yamal signed the new contract on Tuesday, with club president Joan Laporta and sporting director Deco present.
Barcelona praised the teenager’s renewal as a testament to the strength of their long-term vision.
“Yamal’s renewal is a demonstration of the solidity of Barça’s project.
His emergence on the world football scene is like few others,” the club said. “The lad from Mataró has exploded onto the stage with performances that are already part of Barcelona history.”
A product of the famed La Masia academy, Yamal made his senior debut at just 15 in 2023 and has since rewritten the record books.
He is the youngest scorer in the history of La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup, and recently became the youngest player to reach 100 appearances for the club.
Internationally, Yamal has earned 19 caps for Spain and played a vital role in their Euro 2024 triumph, including the 2-1 win over England in the final in Berlin.
The youngster, often likened to Lionel Messi due to his technical brilliance and La Masia roots, joins manager Hansi Flick and forward Raphinha in committing his future to the club as Barcelona builds toward a new era of success.
