Doha: The 2026 Formula 1 calendar has been officially announced, confirming the return of the Qatar Grand Prix to the Lusail International Circuit from November 27 to 29. This event will serve as the penultimate round of the championship, promising intense wheel-to-wheel competition as Formula 1® embarks on a new era.
The 2026 season will signify a groundbreaking chapter in the history of Formula 1® with the implementation of entirely new technical regulations. The next-generation vehicles will be lighter (weighing 768kg compared to 800kg), shorter, and narrower, designed for enhanced agility. Significant innovations include active aerodynamics featuring movable front and rear wings, a substantial increase in electrical power output (nearly three times the current MGU-K power), and the use of 100% sustainable fuels. Furthermore, Audi will join the grid as a new constructor, taking over the existing Sauber team and bringing their expertise to the forefront of motorsport.
Since its debut in Formula 1 in 2021, Qatar has positioned itself as a leading destination on the championship calendar. The 5.38km circuit, characterized by its 16 flowing corners and numerous overtaking opportunities, offers an ideal setting for fiercely contested racing. The circuit’s impressive floodlighting system contributes to one of F1®’s most visually captivating night races, set against the stunning backdrop of Lusail’s skyline.
LIC is one of only two venues globally to host Formula 1, MotoGP, and the World Endurance Championship. The facility boasts an unparalleled 50 pit boxes—more than any other F1® circuit—contained within a 402.1-meter pit lane building, which holds the Guinness World Record for the longest motorsport pit lane building at a racetrack.
