Arsenal are on the verge of completing the signing of Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga this week.
The 30-year-old Spaniard, who inserted a £5 million release clause when extending his Chelsea contract last summer, impressed during a loan spell at Bournemouth and is now set for a permanent move to the Emirates.
Kepa will provide competition for fellow Spaniard David Raya, with Arsenal in need of a new backup goalkeeper after deciding not to make Neto’s loan move from Bournemouth permanent.
Kepa, who remains the most expensive goalkeeper in history following his £72 million move to Chelsea from Athletic Bilbao in 2018, made 163 appearances for the Blues and won four major trophies during a mixed seven-year stay.
He also spent the 2023–24 season on loan at Real Madrid, where he added La Liga and Champions League winners’ medals to his collection.
