Haaland scores 300th career goal as Man City cruise past Juventus in Club World Cup

Erling Haaland netted the 300th top-level goal of his career as Manchester City swept aside Juventus in sweltering Orlando to finish top of Group G at the Club World Cup.

The Norwegian striker came off the bench to score in the second half, scuffing in a finish from close range as City powered through 32°C heat and brief showers to dominate the Italian side.

The victory ensured City avoided being placed on the same side of the knockout draw as Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain and Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.

However, Pep Guardiola’s side could still meet Real Madrid—coached by his former player Xabi Alonso—in the next round, depending on the outcome of Madrid’s Group H clash with Salzburg later (kick-off 02:00 BST).

City made another lightning start, scoring inside 10 minutes for the second consecutive match. Rayan Ait-Nouri slipped in a clever disguised pass to Jeremy Doku, who cut inside and calmly slotted into the bottom corner.

But Juventus hit back almost immediately, capitalizing on a City error.

Ederson’s misplaced pass landed at the feet of Teun Koopmeiners, who pounced and rifled home the equalizer.

City soon regained control, and their second goal came via a defensive blunder. With no pressure on him, Juve defender Pierre Kalulu somehow turned Matheus Nunes’ low cross into his own net in comical fashion.

Haaland extended the lead after the break, awkwardly bundling in Nunes’ pass off his standing foot to mark a major personal milestone.

Phil Foden then added a fourth from close range before Savinho capped the rout with a thunderous fifth.

Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic grabbed a late consolation after squandering earlier chances, but it did little to dent City’s dominant performance.

Guardiola’s men head into the knockout rounds with a perfect group-stage record.
