Chelsea have begun talks with Ajax over a potential deal for teenage centre-back Jorrel Hato while also advancing their pursuit of RB Leipzig forward Xavi Simons.
Hato, 19, is regarded as one of Europe’s brightest defensive prospects following a standout Eredivisie season in which he made 31 appearances. The Blues are understood to be in direct contact with both Ajax and Hato’s representatives, though discussions remain at an early stage and no agreement has been reached.
At the same time, Chelsea are negotiating personal terms with Simons. The Netherlands international, 22, is believed to be open to a move to Stamford Bridge as the club looks to bolster its attacking options.
RB Leipzig are aware of Chelsea’s interest but have yet to agree to a deal. Simons, who signed permanently from Paris Saint-Germain in January after two loan spells, is also drawing attention from Bayern Munich and Arsenal.
Bayern are said to be focused on signing Liverpool winger Luis Diaz, while Arsenal have been monitoring Simons’ situation as part of their summer planning.
