Amman: Qatar national table tennis team demonstrated their strong presence in the WTT Youth Contender – Amman 2025, after the players won seven medals: one gold, three silver, and four bronze. This is a new achievement that reflects the significant development the game is witnessing in Qatar at the age group level.
Qatari brilliance was highlighted by the talented youngster Rasha Laghribi, who stole the spotlight after winning the Under-11 category, defeating her teammate Alia Al-Baz in the final in three sets to none (11-9, 11-7, and 13-11).
Laghribi didn not stop at the gold; she added a new bronze medal in the Under-13 category after reaching the semifinals, confirming her promising talent. For her part, Alia Albaz won the silver medal in the under-11 category, while Serena Shaikh continued her brilliance in the Amman Championship, winning the silver medal in the under-13 category after a remarkable journey that ended in the final against strong competition.
Abdulaziz Al-Abdullah also excelled in the under-15 category, reaching the final before losing to Iran’s Mobin Amiri in three straight sets, settling for the silver medal.
Qatari presence was not absent from the podiums in the other categories, as Rabia Al-Kuwari won the bronze medal in the under-11 category after reaching the semi-finals before losing to Egypt’s Salah Allam.
Ruqayya Al-Baz also shone in the under-15 category, reaching the semi-finals before losing to India’s Ankoleka Chakraborty, winning the bronze medal. Mubarak Marzouq completed the Qatari team’s medal haul, winning the under-11 bronze medal after losing the semi-final match against Iraq’s Andia Mohammed, three sets to one, in an exciting match.
These impressive results confirm that Qatari table tennis is on the right track. The Qatari team’s presence in Amman was not limited to podium finishes, but was also linked to the strong performances the players demonstrated against various teams, such as Egypt, Iraq, India, and Iran. This provided our players with valuable experience that will be reflected in their future participation.
The Qatar Table Tennis Association’s management emphasized that the achievements in the Jordanian tournament represent an important milestone in the development of a new generation of champions, noting that this achievement did not come out of nowhere, but rather is the fruit of an ambitious strategy and continuous support for Qatari sports. They explained that these positive results will serve as an incentive to redouble efforts to continue their presence on continental and global podiums in the coming years. With this achievement, Al-Adham has added a new page to its growing record of achievements, confirming that the future holds great promise, with the emergence of a new generation of promising talent capable of carrying Qatar’s flag in various forums.
