Djokovic to face Alcaraz as ATP finals draw sets up potential Sinner–Musetti derby

Novak Djokovic will face Carlos Alcaraz in the group stage of the upcoming ATP Finals, while defending champion Jannik Sinner could be set for an all-Italian clash with Lorenzo Musetti at the season-ending event in Turin.

Djokovic, a seven-time Finals winner, was confirmed on Monday among the eight contenders and drawn into the Jimmy Connors Group alongside top seed Alcaraz, Taylor Fritz, and Alex de Minaur.

The 38-year-old Serbian, holder of a record 24 Grand Slam titles, is currently chasing his second trophy of the year in Athens, where he defeated Alejandro Tabilo in straight sets on Tuesday.

Earlier this season, Djokovic reached the semifinals of all four majors and claimed his 100th career ATP title in Geneva — becoming only the third player in the Open era to reach that milestone.

Alcaraz, meanwhile, is aiming for his first ATP Finals crown after another stellar season highlighted by triumphs at the US Open and Roland Garros, where he beat rival Sinner in an epic final.

Sinner, the reigning champion, will lead the Bjorn Borg Group as he looks to defend his title in front of home fans. The world No. 1 has already captured five titles this year, including the Australian Open and Wimbledon.

He could be joined by compatriot Musetti — if the latter wins the ongoing Athens tournament to edge out Felix Auger-Aliassime for the final qualification spot.

Also drawn in Sinner’s group are Alexander Zverev and Ben Shelton.

The ATP Finals begin on Sunday, with the top two players from each four-man group advancing to the semifinals.

Group stage draw:
Jimmy Connors Group: Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic, Taylor Fritz, Alex de Minaur
Bjorn Borg Group: Jannik Sinner, Alexander Zverev, Ben Shelton, Felix Auger-Aliassime or Lorenzo Musetti
